The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced today, Sunday, its intention to host a number of security leaders to investigate information regarding the recording of "foreign military breaches and activities" in the Iraqi desert. Committee member Karim Aliwi al-Mahmoudawi said in a statement to the official news agency, followed by Al-Sumaria News, "We previously warned, since the start of the escalation in the region, of movements by American forces in areas located between Karbala and Anbar," noting that "information was received via a report from an Iraqi farmer confirmed by Iraqi forces that conducted reconnaissance of the mentioned area." He added that "the Iraqi force assigned to reconnaissance was directly targeted, leading to the martyrdom of an officer and the injury of a soldier," pointing out that "initial investigations indicate attempts to use those areas as support points for military operations targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran via missiles and drones." He continued that "the committee is in the process of hosting security leaders in the Joint Operations and officials in charge of those sectors, to determine the nature of those forces and the effects of their presence."
