US Secretary of State Marco Rubio vowed Wednesday Washington would take no action to undermine Gulf allies' security, particularly regarding Iran dealings. Rubio told reporters in Kuwait City, before leaving for Bahrain, the US would be "fully aligned" with Gulf partners.
He justified his trip: "That's why I'm making these visits now, and that's why I'm here." He reaffirmed: "We will not do anything that would compromise the security of our allies, and they are long-standing allies of the United States in
the region." On Iran, Rubio said Washington is open to a "good and real deal" if Tehran agrees. Otherwise, "the President certainly has other options." He noted technical negotiating teams resume talks late this month, likely returning to Switzerland.
