The Federal Supreme Court received a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of voting procedures concerning the appointment of three deputy prime ministers and the creation of three new ministries, initiated on Sunday by lawmaker Mohammed Jassim Al-Khafaji. Registered under case number
253 of 2026, the legal action cites violations of multiple constitutional articles, primarily Article 76 on cabinet formation procedures and Article 86 regarding the establishment of ministries without prior legislation, alongside Articles 61 and 139 governing parliamentary oversight and transitional
provisions. Furthermore, Al-Khafaji stated that the complaint requests overturning a judicial precedent issued 15 years ago on the matter, arguing that these executive posts and newly formed ministries present serious constitutional complications.
