The commander of US forces in the Middle East announced, in a written statement to lawmakers on Thursday, that the United States has destroyed more than 90% of Iran's stockpile of naval mines, which totals about 8,000 mines, without addressing
Tehran's continued control over the vital Strait of Hormuz, according to Bloomberg. The commander of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said that "more than 700 airstrikes eliminated Iran's huge stockpile of naval mines, but he did not reveal
the number of mines planted in the strait versus those destroyed in storage or aboard ships."
