A spokesman for the US Central Command said that his country's military carried out "defensive strikes" in southern Iran targeting missile platforms and boats.
Fox News quoted the Central Command spokesman as saying, "Our strikes in southern Iran targeted missile launch platforms and boats that were attempting to plant mines."
The spokesman added, "We continue to defend our forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire," pointing out that "the defensive strikes were launched to protect US forces from threats by Iranian forces."
A senior US official also confirmed to Fox News that US forces "also bombed a surface-to-air SAM missile site in Bandar Abbas."
Informed sources told Fox News that "the US strikes in Iran are defensive and do not indicate the end of the ceasefire agreement."
