In a step aimed at accelerating the pace of legislative work for 2026, Speaker of Parliament Hebat Al-Halbousi announced a full-month extension of the Council's legislative term starting this Thursday. A parliamentary source clarified that the extension was in response
to the requirements of the current stage, which necessitates finalizing the nomination of the Prime Minister-designate and approving the government program before constitutional deadlines expire. Additionally, the Council seeks during this extra period to pass legal amendments related to energy
security and the protection of shipping lanes, in line with the exceptional conditions facing global financial and trade markets.
