On Saturday, French police detained 135 individuals and confiscated various weapons as part of their efforts to secure ongoing protests across the country. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed that these security measures aim to prevent a resurgence of street violence.
Nuñez detailed that the seized weapons included metal balls, bullets, fireworks, slingshots, steel balls, and homemade weapons. Authorities reported no major incidents so far. Several regions in France are witnessing new demonstrations against the rising cost of living, amid concerns
over potential violence and looting similar to the events during mid-October protests. Approximately 70,000 police and gendarmerie personnel have been deployed, marking an increase of about 20% compared to the previous week, to strengthen security and maintain order during these
events.
