Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian Parliament, affirmed that Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) do not require parliamentary ratification. Boroujerdi indicated that only formal agreements are submitted to the council in the

form of draft laws for approval. In a statement to local media, Boroujerdi clarified that "understandings are not considered binding treaties that necessitate parliamentary legislation," confirming that this principle applies to ongoing understandings in the current context. Boroujerdi regarded the opposition from

what he described as the "front of enemies," which includes Israel, opponents of US President Donald Trump, and some Iranian opposition factions, as evidence that this understanding serves Iranian interests. The Iranian official stressed that Tehran "will not abandon nuclear knowledge

and technology," affirming the country's continued development of its scientific capabilities in this vital field. Meanwhile, prominent Iranian writer and journalist Mohammad Mohajeri considered that excluding the Parliament from the decision-making circle in the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington to

formalize the MoU represents a "correct and necessary step." Mohajeri explained in an article published on Wednesday that one of the main reasons for this lies in "some MPs' lack of familiarity with the negotiation file and its complexities," adding that

"part of the discourse issued by the National Security Committee in Parliament lacks accuracy and relies on unreliable information."
