Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi unveiled on Saturday a comprehensive national initiative aimed at establishing integrated connectivity across regional energy grids, railway networks, diverse transportation channels, and digital communications infrastructure. The proposed vision also encompasses the advancement of electronic
payment systems, commercial platforms, and the integration of industrial zones across the Islamic world. The strategic initiative was formally presented during Al-Zaidi's address at the opening of the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of
Islamic Cooperation, held in Baghdad. He explained that the initiative fundamentally seeks to establish solid foundations for security, stability, and widespread prosperity, while significantly bolstering collective capabilities to confront emerging crises and mounting economic challenges. The Prime Minister emphasized that
the Organization of Islamic Cooperation serves as an essential pillar for deepening brotherly ties and achieving integration among nations unified by shared Islamic faith, culture, and civilization. He pointed out that accelerating regional and global crises demand intensified joint action
to defend public interests, champion the causes of Muslim nations, and safeguard the future of coming generations. In this context, he called for safeguarding freedom of trade, securing commercial routes, and ensuring unhindered transport flows across international transit corridors, noting
that cooperation and mutual acceptance remain the optimal path toward resolving disputes and consolidating unity. Regarding regional political dynamics, Al-Zaidi reiterated Iraq’s unyielding and principled support for the Palestinian cause, describing it as the core of the protracted conflict in
the region. He underlined that securing justice and guaranteed rights for the Palestinian people constitutes the vital cornerstone for achieving sustainable regional peace and stability, while pointing out that Iraq has endured, and continues to bear, severe ramifications stemming from
regional conflicts and their heavy economic burdens. Earlier in his speech, Al-Zaidi extended a warm welcome to participating delegations in Baghdad, the crossroads of civilizations and center of thought and history, congratulating the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
on assuming his duties and wishing him success in advancing development goals. He stressed that the organization represents the premier venue to promote moderation, tolerance, and human values, calling for firm solidarity against hatred and support for the oppressed, while
affirming that Iraqis will spare no effort in realizing these principles and sustaining shared security. Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister conveyed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for its dedicated diplomatic endeavors in seeking to defuse ongoing
tensions, urging all member states to multiply collaborative efforts in pursuit of durable peace and stability across the region.
