Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran today, Saturday, marking his third visit in just a few days, amidst escalating tensions between Iran and the United States following recent mutual strikes. Naqvi is scheduled to meet with Iranian officials

during his visit to discuss a range of pressing issues. Informed sources revealed that progress has been made regarding the frozen Iranian funds, though disagreements persist over the exact amount and the timeline for their release. The sources indicated the Pakistani

Interior Minister carries an important message from Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, addressed to Mojtaba Khamenei. Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued special instructions to the Interior Minister concerning the ongoing negotiations. Naqvi is expected to discuss avenues for reaching

a memorandum of understanding in the Iranian capital. Sources highlighted that messages exchanged between Washington and Tehran are conveyed via Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US Envoy Steve Witkoff. It was also noted that US President Donald Trump informed

mediators of his desire to conclude negotiations within 60 days, urging Iran to respond swiftly. The Pakistani minister previously met his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, twice last Thursday and Friday, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) interior ministers'

meeting in Kyrgyzstan. The two officials exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and latest regional developments, according to Pakistan's Interior Ministry. These Pakistani diplomatic efforts occur as negotiations between Iran and the United States are stalled or facing difficulties, despite some

hopeful signs emerging recently. Tehran has insisted on the release of half of its frozen funds abroad, amounting to $12 billion, upon the initial signing of an interim agreement with Washington, with the remainder to be released within two months.

However, the US administration expressed reservations on this point. Additionally, the Iranian nuclear file continues to face complexities, with detailed discussions postponed until after the preliminary agreement signing, within the 60-day timeframe. Islamabad has played a mediating role between the two countries

for months, aiming to bridge viewpoints. It hosted extensive direct talks last April, though these did not yield concrete results. Nevertheless, Pakistan continues efforts to overcome obstacles, seeking an agreement to end the conflict that erupted on February 28 last

year between Iran on one side, and Israel and the United States on the other.
