A parliamentary member has confirmed that the coming period will witness the exposure of more individuals involved in corruption cases within the country. MP Ahmed Al-Khazali explained that anyone arrested in corruption cases is often part of a wider network of
perpetrators. Therefore, current efforts are not limited to pursuing direct implementers but extend to tracking all parties that provide them protection and support or stand behind them. Al-Khazali pointed out that the Iraqi judiciary today possesses full awareness and a genuine
will to follow up on corruption files. He noted the high level of coordination between the government, the Integrity Commission, and the judicial authority with the aim of holding corrupt individuals accountable and bringing them to justice. He clarified that political
forces view the performance of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's government positively, especially concerning the anti-corruption file, stressing that the government enjoys broad political, governmental, and popular support to proceed on this path. Al-Khazali also mentioned that the government succeeded in uncovering
four important cases within just thirty days, in coordination with the Integrity Commission and judicial bodies, which reflects the executive authority's seriousness in confronting the scourge of corruption. He emphasized that Iraq faces two dangerous challenges: the first is terrorism, represented
by ISIS, and the second is the terrorism of corruption, which is no less dangerous to state institutions and their stability. This necessitates the continuation of governmental and judicial efforts to eliminate these two threats.
