Russia announced on Wednesday the evacuation of its personnel from Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant following reports of an airstrike near the site.
Rosatom chief Alexey Likhachev said that 163 staff members left the facility early in the morning heading toward the Armenian border.
He added that a limited number of personnel will remain on-site to maintain essential operations.
The move comes after Iran reported another projectile striking the vicinity of the plant.
The International Atomic Energy Agency urged restraint, warning of risks to nuclear facilities.
