Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced his resignation on Thursday, following the opposition bloc's victory in the recent parliamentary elections. This decision comes after his center-right bloc led an electoral campaign that was unsuccessful in the contest held on September

13. In an official message addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, published by Kristersson on his 'X' account, he requested to be relieved of his duties. He indicated that the current election results could create difficult conditions for forming the next

government, as the differing statements made by parties before the elections "may create obstacles for candidates for prime minister and potential coalitions." Kristersson emphasized the necessity of conducting negotiations with all parties to create the necessary conditions for forming a stable

and effective government, stating that the Speaker of Parliament's task now lies in leading the next steps towards forming a new government. The parliamentary election results showed the opposition center-left bloc securing 49.5% of the votes, compared to 48.8% for the

ruling right bloc led by Kristersson. The left bloc, comprising the Swedish Social Democratic Party led by former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, the Left Party, the Centre Party, and the Green Party, won 176 seats in parliament. The remaining 173

seats went to the right bloc, which consists of the Moderate Party led by Kristersson, the Christian Democrats, the Liberals, and the Sweden Democrats.
