Donald Trump has yet to comment on these reports regarding Hegseth’s plans. The Republican Party must select a new candidate for the November 2028 elections, as the U.S. Constitution limits presidents to two terms. Trump had previously named several potential Republican candidates,
including Vance, Rubio, Scott Bessent (Treasury Secretary), and Kristi Noem (former Homeland Security Secretary). Despite this, President Trump has expressed a desire for a third term, lamenting current constitutional restrictions. The 22nd Amendment limits anyone to two four-year presidential terms; Trump's
