The US Department of Justice granted permanent immunity to President Donald Trump and members of his family from prosecution and inspection of their previous tax returns by the Internal Revenue Service, which oversees tax collection.
The acting US Attorney General Todd signed the document, which was published on Tuesday.
It stated that the US government would not be able to inspect Trump's financial returns submitted before last Monday or "any issues that were addressed or could have been addressed."
This comes after Trump reached a settlement agreement with the Internal Revenue Service on Monday, under which Trump agreed to withdraw the lawsuit against the department, which was demanding damages amounting to 10 billion dollars for leaking his tax returns.
