The Supreme Islamic Council revealed, on Saturday, details concerning the demands of Iraqi factions within the efforts of the mediation committee dedicated to the arms control file. Ali al-Difaei, spokesperson for the Council, stated that the factions requested the inclusion of
the head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Homam Hamoudi, in the committee formed by the Coordination Framework. This committee aims to mediate between the factions and Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi regarding the issue of arms control. Al-Difaei clarified that the
Supreme Islamic Council was not initially represented in this committee when it was established, but the request for Hamoudi's involvement came later from the factions. He affirmed that meetings between the concerned parties have commenced and are still ongoing. He further
indicated that Hamoudi conducted direct visits and meetings with prominent faction leaders, engaging in in-depth discussions about the arms file. These dialogues concluded that the factions understand the principle of arms control but link this understanding to the necessity of
achieving full Iraqi sovereignty. Al-Difaei emphasized that the approach to this file will not lead to armed confrontation, asserting that there will be no bloodshed. He confirmed that the concerned powers have unanimously agreed to avoid any potential conflict.
