Stephen Fagin, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Baghdad, stated Monday that any threat to Iraq's security affects everyone. This declaration occurred during his reception by Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, in Pirمام. During their meeting, Fagin expressed satisfaction
at returning to Iraq for a new assignment and visiting the Kurdistan Region, reiterating his country's commitment to continued engagement and support. He highlighted Washington's backing for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to bolster security, stability, and economic development. Fagin
also stressed the necessity of coordination among parties to safeguard Iraq's sovereignty and strengthen its regional and international ties. The U.S. diplomat clarified that Iraq's security is integral to regional and international stability, and any peril it faces poses a widespread
threat. He noted Iraq's capacity, alongside the Kurdistan Region, to play an an effective role in this area. Furthermore, Fagin affirmed U.S. support for an Iraq free from armed militias operating outside government control, aiming to achieve lasting political and
economic stability. For his part, Masoud Barzani reiterated that the Kurdistan Region will always be a cornerstone of stability. He supported the Iraqi Prime Minister's efforts to consolidate stability, uphold the Iraqi constitution, and combat terrorism and corruption, pledging continued joint
action on these critical issues. Addressing regional matters, Barzani emphasized that peace always surpasses war, dialogue is better than confrontation, and understanding outweighs conflict and chaos. He firmly stated that the Kurdistan Region consistently contributes to resolving regional crises and has
never been a source of existing turmoil.
