The National Security Service announced today, Friday, the foiling of an assassination plot targeting its chief, Abdul Karim Al-Basri, its official spokesperson, Baghdad's security director, and several officers. The service confirmed this plot was aimed at its leadership prior to
the execution phase. A statement clarified that a cell linked to a front of the banned Ba'ath Party had advanced to assigning tasks, identifying targets, and preparing weapons for the assassinations. Following an intelligence penetration, precise monitoring, and careful follow-up,
the National Security Service apprehended cell members and seized evidence and exhibits linked to the criminal scheme.
