Home policy Parliament Speaker Condemns Hashed Attack: Iraqi Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity are a Red Line

Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi on Wednesday condemned the Saudi-American attack that targeted Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) headquarters, emphasizing that Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity represent a red line that must not be crossed. In a statement, al-Halbousi strongly denounced the assault

which targeted sites belonging to Iraqi security forces, resulting in the fall of martyrs and wounded. He described this aggression as an unacceptable violation of Iraq's sovereignty, an infringement on its security and stability, and an overstepping of state security

institutions performing their duties to protect and defend the homeland. He stressed that Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity are a red line that must not be violated, and that respect for international law and the United Nations Charter requires refraining from

any military actions that infringe upon the sovereignty of states or threaten their security and stability. Al-Halbousi also called upon the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into this aggression, and to take all necessary

diplomatic and legal measures to preserve Iraq's rights and sovereignty. Concurrently, he demanded the identification of parties involved in any hostile acts originating from Iraqi territory towards neighboring countries, and accountability for those responsible in accordance with the law. He

affirmed Iraq's constitutional commitment not to use its territory as a base or transit point for any aggression against any state, nor to allow its use as a launching pad to harm the security and stability of neighboring countries. He reiterated

the necessity of neutralizing Iraq from regional and international conflicts, and not dragging it into the throes of wars. He clarified that the supreme national interest dictates that Iraq remains an arena for stability, dialogue, and cooperation, not a battleground

for settling scores or exchanging military messages. He concluded his statement by extending sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded, and praying to Almighty God to protect Iraq and its people,

to sustain its blessing of security and stability, and to guide everyone to what is best for the nation's welfare, sovereignty, and unity.
