Meta announced on Friday the rollout of advanced features for its "Meta AI" service in selected markets, enabling the artificial intelligence chatbot to perform specific tasks autonomously without requiring human intervention. The updated version of "Meta AI," powered by the
company's new "Muse Spark 1.1" model, is designed to comprehend user context and execute tasks without continuous instructions. Meta clarified that these updates will facilitate daily briefings by summarizing events and can be configured for recurring tasks such as weekly
meal plans or trending content updates. These new capabilities are initially being launched in specific markets via the "Meta AI" app and its website, with future plans for expansion to include more regions and platforms, including the "WhatsApp" application. The
company, which owns the "Facebook" platform, affirmed that users will retain full control over their interactions with the AI, and incognito chat options will remain available to ensure conversation privacy. A blog post by Meta stated, "This is our next
step towards hyper-personalized AI: an AI that knows your context and is available to you whenever you need it." Separately, the company also launched a new app called "Seller" on Friday, offering specialized sales tools for merchants utilizing the "Facebook
Shop" platform. Meta is scheduled to announce its second-quarter results after market close on July 29.
